First time with Sewing Machine
May. 28th, 2005 10:01 pmI just got my new sewing machine two days ago. It's a Brother Ls-2125 I got from Walmart for $80 dollars and I just love it. I've never had a sewing machine before so it's taken me some time but I ahve three great projects to share! They came out amazingly well for me not being used to a sewing maching.

This is the first thing I made. It's a really simple one piece handbag with a handle I will never attempt again, but it's durable and as you can see can fit a paperback book, cell phone, wallet, coin purse, keys, and hand sanitizer. I was very proud that I actually made something that was durable.

My second was to make a really simple bottomed bag. I did the measurements by eye so the bottom came out a little bad, but for my first day it was a good effort. No lining, though I did make a cardboard liner and sewed it into a fabric cover to give it a more sturdy bottom. The strap fits all the way over the shoulder for a nice hip holder.

This is by far my favorite. I got this really cool purple and pink flame fabric from walmart for like a dolalr, and I made my first coin purse. It doesn't have a closure yet because I don't have any snaps or buttons, but I'm extremely proud of it. It is interfaced with felt, but the felt is covered up by the fabric, so it's sturdy and holds a good ten dollars worth of gaming tokens. (50 at my arcade) I made it to be a token bag for when I play DDR, so I can determine which pile is mine. It looks really good, and it's extremely sturdy.
I would love to hear what you crafty ladies think of them
