Jun. 8th, 2005 12:01 amA while back, a friend of mine asked me to make her a purse. The only instructions that she gave me were that she wanted polka dots. So last time I went to Wal-Mart, I browsed the craft section and got some nice fabrics. Four hours, one broken sewing machine needle, and a cut thumb later, I ended up with this girly picnic messenger bag:

A close-up of the applique.

I made the strap long enough for the bag to rest comfortably below my hip. I'm pretty short, so it should be the right size.

This is the back. It's all curvy and watermelon-shaped. I measured, and the bag itself is 10 inches wide, 8 inches high, and 2 inches deep.

A side view.

Opened.

I filled it with potholders to show how much it can hold.

There's a big pocket on the inside with my custom label sewn onto it. ^_^

And I turned it inside out so you could see what the print on the inside looks like.

The inside of the front.

And the other side of the flap.
