Jun. 8th, 2005 01:49 pmI am hopelessly TERRIBLE at knitting. I have been taught and re-taught and it just isnt something I am capable of whatsoever.
Rather, I REALLY want to take up cross-stitching, and eventually embroidery.
I am interested not in those elaborate, tacky pattern kits you see at Michaels or elsewhere.
I have looked in the memories section, but havent found what I am looking for.
Id really appreciate any starter points.
~I dont know even basic vocabulary regarding cross-stitching whatsoever.
~I have experience in vintage prints, patterns and fabrics from working in the linen dept of WIN society for 3 years.
~I have access to cheap cheap supplies, through WIN but because I dont even know HOW to work it, it is pointless right now.
~I want to work with fabrics, not plastic and eventually want to start working with quilts, and vintage fabric hankerchiefs.
~I need reccomendations for an excellent book or kit to start me off.
My sister creates master knitted sushi mobiles, and knitted skull sweaters for my nephew [largely influenced by stitch n bitch nation] but, I cannot knit and really want to try my hand at cross stitching and embroidery.
< thank you so much 3
