[identity profile] angeliis.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I've been reading this community for a while but never had the nerve to post. I have a real crafty desire but not a whole lot of crafty talent. I went to a crochet class and made one scarf. Then I realized my hand pain was from carpal tunnel so crocheting was out. I decided to start making beaded jewelry since it doesn't hurt nearly as bad. It only bothers me when I attempt to string a lot of seed beads at once and don't take breaks. Anyways...here are some of my creations. I don't have a lot of money to buy expensive stuff so I'm pretty much sticking with things I can afford for now, no expensive crystals and such just glass beads.

This became somewhat picture heavy so dial uppers like myself be warned. This is also my first attempt at taking pictures of my stuff, some are a lil blurry but I'll work on that.

This is my first necklace. Seed beads and beads from a variety pack I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I figured out I was using the wrong kind of wire after making this but haven't taken the time to re-string it so it looks a lil stiff.

This is my second necklace. Black and red fiber optic glass beads from Michaels with some spacers thrown in for good measure. I think I redid this one 3 times. The first time I went to take the picture and realized I mucked up the pattern, the second time I cut the wire too short and couldn't get it to crimp then dropped the end and lost a bead. That really ticked me off because I had JUST enough beads to make it. My husband finally got tired of me whining and found it for me, then I re-did it for a third time.

Three bracelets I made from bead mixes bought at Michaels.

An anklet I made from that same bead assortment.

After I wore my colored bracelets and anklet a coworker asked for an anklet. She requested aqua, white and clear. This is what I came up with. You can't tell in the pic that the spacers are lil pewterish flowers.

Some random pics...

This is stuff I got from my trip to the bead store and Hobby Lobby last weekend. I'd never been in a bead shop before. /love. It was great. When she handed me scissors and told me to start snipping rubber bands I had to contain myself. She talked me into buying a crimper since I was just using pliers and squeezing the hell out of crimp beads. She also told me to come back when I want to make earrings and she'll show me how!

Finally...I have these. Years ago my MawMaw gave me a Walmart bag full of these old beaded necklaces. I've been trying to come up with something to do with them. I'm thinking I might can take the strands apart and make new jewelry out of some of them. I'm not sure yet.

OK! That's all for now. I would love some feedback on my things. I know it's nothing fancy but I'm having a helluva lot of fun doing it.

(hmm, I was getting red Xs as if my pictures weren't working, I hope no one else has that problem)
