Next time I bitch about the price of fabric at Spotlight or Lincraft, please feel free to remind me of the afternoon I spent 3 1/2 hours making a square foot of wool felt.
This was made in the traditional way, four layers of merino roving (or tops), soaped and rubbed, turned and repeated four times, then rolled in bamboo blinds several times on each of the edges.
I made mine with a pretty hand-dyed aquamarine and gave it a royal blue border. It's actually pretty square, but it was difficult to photograph.
I'll definitely be doing it again. This one is going to be a cushion front, I think. Next time, I want to make a hat. Not that I wear hats, but you know, it's craft. For now, I'm just glad I don't have to make my own clothing from fibre. And that I have a washing machine.
It was fun.
I also made some little toiletries sets as gifts.
I made two sets, Vanilla and Lemon (+orange, pine & bergamot) poppyseed.
Pretty basic stuff, m&p soaps, body wash, moisturiser and bath salts.
I made the bags out of a cute strawberry print remnant from my stash and lined them in clear vinyl. Simple but they were well received. I think I'll be making some more for Christmas.
