Dumpster Diver Decor
Jun. 10th, 2005 02:59 pmThe head of the costume shop at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (my school) has this huge costume website, Costumes.org, and on it there's a section called Dumpster Diver Decor, about all the weird crafts projects she and her hetrosexual life partner do. They turned their house into a "gothic Adams Family gingerbread house," did bizarre computer mods, made all their windows and light fixtures faux stained glass, and painted their minivan vaguely like the Northern Lights:

It's a wonderful site, and there's some great projects on it. She's also got great tips on faking creativity, mental aerobics (dada calisthenics is my favorite. I actually an 'Alaskan lei' to an Oscar-winning actress a few years ago because of it. She wouldn't le me actually put it on her because she didn't want the ice to melt and get her blouse wet), and making 'pet the bunny' artist portfolios.
