Hi all. First post! I must say after belonging to this community for a few weeks, I am very impressed by the skill levels of everyone out there. So here's my first post of a couple things I've made recently: 2 coin purses and a tote. I made the tote with interfacing as my carry-on bag when i went to New York a couple weeks ago. I've made these coin purses to stash my camera and cash and other stuff. All are from patterns, but I'm also starting to design my own, and that's so exciting!

And I have a question while I'm making this post. I don't think this specific question has been asked before, but sorry if I didn't read the memories closely enough. I'm planning on buying a sewing machine soon, and since a lot of people recommend getting a used older one versus a new one, I'm just wondering why everyone mostly prefers that. Is it because new sewing machines just aren't made as well these days? I want something in the hundred dollar range for my college years but I would think buying an older machine would cause more problems than I'd want. But most importantly I want the best machine for my money.

so thanks for any suggestions or comments!
