Well I have been thinking of entering a art show that is in a few months. The artists in past years have been absolutly jaw dropping good so I have been feeling really nervous and scared to give it a try (who wants to be the one that people point at and say "this is what not to do when painting" lol, even though part of my brain knows that it isn't at all likely to happen. I have been really scared to take that leap and even try.
Well this weekend I saw down with a nice large canvas and thought I would do a autumn green man on canvas (like the one I painted on that basket) well the more I worked the more I found out that this painting had a mind of its own and while it wasn't turning out at all how I planned it that it was fun and different in a whole new way. I keep waffling back and forth between really likeing it (which is highly unusual when I first do a painting) and thinking I need to change it totally or gesso it over and start over from scratch. One of the things I am thinking of doing if going over the painting with a yellow/brown wash to dull it down a bit as it is very bright and festive. Lee says I should also lighten up the red above the green mans left eye but I am not so sure. Well without to much more yapping from me...
Here is a progress pic and then the final (so far)
