sculpey beading

craftgrrlsorry for the text-only post but i just have a quick question.
i'm gonna buy some Sculpey III today and make some cat beads put on necklaces. i'm gonna put the kitties on a head pin, attach a jump ring, and then attach to a necklace. my question is:
should i put the head pin through the sculpey before baking, and bake with the pin in there, or wait until the scupey has been baked and hardened and then push a hole through?
any help you could give me would be great! thanks!! ♥
