An Adventure.
Jun. 25th, 2005 02:42 amAnd a quandry. I'll put it up here for those who do not wish to join me for a wonderful trip down CHEAP T-SHIRT MAKING LANE.
So, acrylic paint + textile medium, great. Now it's dry and done. I have to iron it to set it. Do I iron both sides, or just one? The front, the back? Should I iron it through another piece of fabric so it doesn't explode/combust/burn? The back of the textile medium just says to iron it. Very helpful. Though, it might say more under the price tag, which is unfortunitely placed over the instructions. Uh, by me. So that's the last time I ever tag anything without looking.
Anyway. Image heavy fun.
Let's get ready...FOR ROUND TWO! Wherein Janis tries to make a Scissor Sisters shirt!

EXCITEMENT.

The stencil. I traced a printout and cut it. I have two pieces. They're made from a plastic bag I found in the kitchen. We randomly had like, fifty. And it's totally hard to see against the black, GO FIGURE.

This is the second. It's for doing the handles on the scissors. If I had have thought this through more, I would have done the tulle screenprinting I tried before. Ah well. On we go!

I decided to tape it down. It seemed like a good idea.

NERVOUS! The shirt cost a whopping NINE DOLLARS, and fits really well. EEEE.

It puts the paint in the bucket. And then it puts the textile medium in, and it mixes with my mom's good paint brushes, and it gets a lovely result. Nice consistancey.

And I used a smaller paintbrush to trace the outline.

The shoes were fucking hard.

Plastic stencil removed! Results!

Handles!

Chewie watches on as the weird girl who's always trying to pick him up has her face inches from a thing people wear over their fur. Weird, he thinks. Why did I want to come in the house ANYWAY?

Filling it in. I used the big brush first, and soon deemed that a bad idea.

The small brush works better. It's a bit more blotchy than it looks here.

Closeup!

Coat one. Not happy.

See? Sad, in fact.

Second coat! Happier!

Closeup again!
Now, we're waiting for it to dry, and then we have to set it with an iron. I don't know why I keep saying "we" as if I'm the Queen. Anyway.
