So, I posted my duct tape roses a while ago - & thought I would do a tutorial about it since the ones given on most sites aren't all too detailed.

So here's my try + many photos.

So you've got your duct tape cut into a little bigger than an inch pieces.

To make the centre of the rose, take one of the pieces with the sticky side up. Then fold the right upper corner down to form a little triangle, but leave a little strip of stickiness on the left side as well as on the bottom.

Start to roll down from the top of the piece of tape.

This is where you'd want to insert a stem of some sort, if you want one. I use wire, but I'm sure there would be other lurvely things out there as well.

I stick that onto the duct tape about a quarter of the length down as I'm rolling, so it's inside the roll & good & centered.

Keep rolling until you have a little bud on top of your wire. (or, if you didn't want a stem - just a bud.)

Now, for the petal making. You'll be doing the same beginning process as you did with the centre of the rose, only instead of rolling it up after this step:

You fold the other upper corner down to form a triangle. Like this:

So, there's one petal! You take that, & wrap it around the centre bud so that the bottom sticky part is just about even with the bottom of the bud. This can vary as you add more petals - I just like to have a sturdy centre to work around with the rest of the petals.

From here, once wrapped - you end up with something like this:

Sorry about the bad lighting. Once you keep repeating the above petal steps, you will eventually end up with this:

I usually end up using 10-13 petals for each rose, but that's just preference. You're also able to stretch them out so it looks a bit more wide blooming.

Then, I use Nu-Art Acrylic Paint (might just be a Canadian brand, I'm sure any acrylic will do) in Primary Magenta & Rubine Red to paint the tops of them. I create a little leafy underneath by using Hookers' Green.

The End.

Good luck! (let me know if you have any questions)
