Aug. 7th, 2005 01:57 amI started making jewelry sort-of seriously last fall, and now it's sort of an obsession. I have more beads than I know what to do with, but it's never enought, of course. I can't walk barefoot in my house anymore, because bits of wire that flew away when I cut them have embedded in the carpet, waiting to strike (any tips for preventing this?)
Anyway, I created this this last week. It's my favorite design to date. I spent over an hour on it, and love love love love it. I expect it to cause me physical pain when I sell it.

Two types of Czech crystal, fancy sead beads in a verdigris color, burgundy pearls, and copper fittings. It has an absolutely stunning dragonfly clasp, which you can see here, along with a few other pictures of recent creations:

Burgungy-dyed pearls, "sea opal" glass, sterling silver wire, pewter pendant. It's very oceanic. Reminds me of Atlantis.

The Green Fairy! Actually, this is one of the very first pieces I ever made, last fall. The pewter charm was hand-painted various shades of green by me. The green beads are also glass/ crystal, and the picture does not do them justice. They are gorgeous, very organic-looking. The chain is silvertone. All of the beads and findings for this piece came from New Orleans, if I recall correctly.

My sister says this looks like something you could win out of a vending machine.
maea thinks it's fantastic. I think it looks sort of Hot Topic-ish, but that's the look I was going for. I was sick of seeing things there that I could make better, for less money. The pewter spikes and gargoyle charm came from New Orleans, too. The red beads are pressed glass, not crystal. And the metal bits are silvertone, not sterling. Still, I like it.

This is the choker I made specifically for Malediction Society the night I wore my black and blue velvet dress. The blue glass beads are really stunning up close; they have warm golden flecks around the outer edges and look like shards from a stained-glass window. The cross has roses all over it. The chain bits are gunmetal-colored and it's really pretty. Strung on memory wire with a security clasp in the back to help it stay on.

Blood roses, blood roses... Another piece I've posted here before, and one of my personal favorites. Czech glass, silver chain, silver wire, pewter charm.

This is a really stunning Gothic piece, inspired by Victorian Mourning jewellry, of course, but so much more, as well. The black beads came from a necklace that belongs to my grandmother's cousin. The pewter frame holds a goregous picture of a black rose. There are grey-dyed freshwater pearls and a pweter spider charm (spiders going well with roses in general, I think. Keep the bugs away). Silver-plated chain.
Feedback, tips and critique would be really very much appreciated. Especialy any tips for making money off this hobby of mine, if that's allowed, as I'm beginning to think that the occasional e-bay sale isn't as efficient as I'd like, and I need to be making money in order to afford more beads.
Thanks!
