craftgrrlThis is a showing-off and a farewell to this piece. I actually made it a few years ago, but I'm selling it off (not on here! on a different site!) to help fund replacing my car. If it squicks people, I'll put it behind a cut.
It's a dove skull hairstick with a beaded cascade. The drops on the end are antique glass, and the skull itself is adorned with silver filigree. I made the display frame as well--not utterly from scratch--the frame base came from Ikea--but I painted it and added the medallion and made it all fancy. The bead cascade is anchored to the hairstick, not the skull, so it isn't putting weight on the skull. I also coated the skull in a few coats of matte clear coat to make it less fragile.
