balloon dolls
Dec. 23rd, 2002 07:14 pmhi! i'm new, and i've already got something to post.
we were making christmas decorations this past week in art out of plaster strips that we placed on balloons. i thought about making a really big balloon and using it as a tree topper. i'm tired of froofy christmas stuff, and decided i wanted something different. the idea sort of took off... i ended up with this delightfully tacky example of holiday cheer.

the main part of the body is made out of plaster strips which were molded over a balloon. it was then painted with acrylic and dusted with black and silver glitter. the head is a wooden bead and the face is drawn on with sharpie. the hair is made of pipe cleaners while the bow and scarf are felt.
(i'm sure that the concept can be used for a lot of things besides tree toppers, which is why this i posted this here instead of in the more christmas-orientated craft community.)
