craftgrrl | my first time.. spinning

oh boy, i can not get the hang of this spinning stuff!

my spindle kit came in the mail today and i put it together as a bottom-whorl drop spindle.

i think i have made the leader correctly (out of some regular yarn i had lying around), but can not figure out how to actually start spinning with my wool. i pinch the leader and wool fiber together and give the spindle a spin, and it starts to twist together for a few seconds, but then my spindle starts to spin in the opposite direction and it just falls apart. boooo.

what am i doing wrong? and any tips you spinners have to offer?

i finally got my wool and leader to stick together, thanks to some help from

spinningfiber and using the park & draft technique. this is a lot harder than i thought.. and i'm not even sure if my 'yarn' is turning out correctly. o.o what do you guys think?
