On the subject of say, basic totes...what do YOU think makes for a professional result?

It's all relative I'm sure, but sometimes the totes I see that others rave over just don't have that "thing" and I don't know if it's just me. I just can't see what others see. They may have cute fabric, yes. They may have good sewing skills used. But they're missing that certain something that makes them look as if they're created by a true skilled professional.

So now my question is: what IS that thing? It doesn't even have to be a tote, per se. It could be really anything but I'm just using bags as an example :)
