Aug. 31st, 2005 08:38 pmI know asking for gift-giving ideas is frowned upon here, but I'm really stuck. If you all don't mind too terribly much, please help a sister out?
My man is in his thirties and will be starting college next week. I want to give him a back-to-school gift and I am at a complete loss. I'm going to decorate a box for him and I have no idea what to put in it.
Here is some information about him: He is a day trader at the Chicago Board of Trade, but transitioning into the Homeland Security field, thus the reason for attending school again. That makes him sound like a stuffy guy, which he isn't. He taught me how to make my own t-shirts on the computer! And last night he spent two hours looking at purses with me on the internet. God, I love this man. He doesn't like sweets or junkfood. He has exquisite taste. He tends to prefer asian inspired articles (such as the artist Nara Yoshimoto). He loves to cook and he loves the outdoors. Jimmy Hendrix is his favorite musical artist. He also likes Frank Zappa, Jazz, and anything else that sounds good. He brews his own beer. He loves Kurosawa films, the scent of opium (not the perfume Opium), and African penguins. I could go on and on about him, but I will spare you all from my gushing.
My budget is fifty dollars. I have a few measly ideas of my own such as some nice pens and some bookmarks (which I'll make), but that isn't enough. He deserves more. I am open to giving him one big thing or a bunch of little things. I haven't started on the box yet - once I know what all will go in it then I can determine the size.
So, what do you think? Can we come up with something together? THANK YOU!!!!!!!
