New necklace creations!
Sep. 21st, 2005 09:08 pmI made two new necklaces today: one out of a Roman coin I got, and one for a friend who is a big Superman fan.

The cord is red and blue hemp in a 4-plait braid. The shield is twisted 18-ga copper wire, soldered. The accents are wrapped cones. Total time, about 4 hours. (Had to learn some lessons about working with wire, and fiddle with solder.

A Roman coin from the reign of Constantine I, circa 307-337 AD. Wooden bead and red horn disc accents on a knotted leather thong. Handmade bail from copper wire.
I learned a lot making these two, and had an excuse to buy some tools. (Drill and soldering iron.) Hopefully, next I'll play with some woodburning in a piece.
If anyone wants to see the other stuff I made, it's at http://www.badassjewelry.net/ . I set up a gallery page today, just so I wouldn't keep linking everyone to each. individual. picture.
I'm really having fun learning how to do this stuff.
