Collage Help

So I'm working on an out of book piece for my IB Art class, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. My theme is "Collage and Altered Art", so what I did was took slide mounts from a previous project, glued on decorative scrapbooking paper, and replaced the slides with pictures from magazines. What I need help with is how to mount or attach all of the slide mounts together. I was thinking I could wind clear thread through them so they kind of float within the silver border, but maybe I should keep it on the black background? ...Maybe the silver border doesn't go with it at all... if not, suggestions?
Human interaction is one thing my teacher wanted all of us to work on this month, so I would love/appreciate any comments or suggestions offered.
