drilling question

craftgrrlsorry for the text only entry, but i have a question for my fellow crafters!!
i have a base metal casting in an oval shape with raised edges. i'd like to put a picture or photograph inside and then fill it with a type of resin for strength. the only problem is that the casting doesn't have a bale on it and i'd like to wear it as a pendant.
has anyone ever drilled through resin (or some sort of resin based glue like aryldite) paper AND metal before at the same time? if so, what sort of drill bit was used and how powerful was it??
