Making Resin Molds?
Nov. 28th, 2005 10:00 amI want to make my own mold for resin. Can anyone recommend a specific brand that *you have used* with resin to make a semi-flexible mold? (silicon, latex, plastisol)
I bought "elasticlay" thinking I could make a rubber mold out of that, but had a lot of trouble getting the resin to release from the mold. If I had thought about the fact it was Sculpy brand I might have figured it would not work for non-clay. When I bought & used the mold release (another $5) it was even worse, and actually pulled off chunks of the mold.
There is another brand at the store called something like Mold Magic. It is made of two parts that you mix together, which is more of what I expected. But, it is $20 & I do not want to waste more money on something that might not work. I am fine with getting something online as long as I know someone else has had luck with it.
(I am sick of craft supplies at the store being so poorly labeled so you have to go back to buy things 3 times and they still don't work!)
