craftgrrl | Master Chief for the win.

I've dug myself into a hole here. Does anyone play Halo? Know who Master Chief is? ... Well, I talked myself into making a Master Chief doll for my best friend for Christmas (though now I don't think it'll be done until his birthday in April).

I had no idea what I was getting myself into, because I don't play Halo and didn't know who Master Chief is. I have a little plush bendy doll (for that sillyness "I love you, best friend" factor) waiting to become a celebrity.

I'm not looking to make it perfect or amazing, but I want to do better than just painting his costume onto the doll and calling it done.

What I'm asking is, any idea what I could use to make his armor and orange visor? I was thinking about getting a doll's motorcycle helmet and repainting it for Master's helm and visor, but I don't know what to do with the rest. Any other tips or ideas would be welcome.
