ok, so in the past when i have tried to use iron on patches, they never seem to really stick. am i doing something wrong? how hot should the iron be, and how long should i leave it on the patch?

edit: thanks for all the input guys! i got the iron pretty hot (cotton setting for a cotton sweater) and used a moderate amount of pressure. it seems to have taken hold pretty nicely, but to be safe i stitched around the perimeter of the patch.

i'd take a picture, but it was my brother's friend's sweater, and it is gone now. he brings me his clothes to mend cause he is useless with a needle and thread!
