Dec. 10th, 2005 02:49 amI saw these awesome hollow clay things online today at work. I couldn't wait to get home to try it. As soon as I walked in the door I took the dog out. Then smoked a cigarette. THEN I got some rocks, wrapped clay around them and made some . . . interesting . . . things.

polka-dot potato...?
2.5"W x 4"L

robot eggroll...?
1.5"W x 2.25"L
They have cords going through them so the lids can go up and down.
I also did inclusions for the first time. The potato got a black pepper rub after I wrapped the clay around the rock. Then i painted it brown, then purple, then blue, then a gold glaze. Then blue dots.
For the orange one, I mixed some raspberry flavored crystal light into the clay before putting it over the rock. Then painted it orange and did gold glaze.
I think these are pretty damn ugly. The potato is too fragile to be used for anything and the lids don't fit well on either of them, but they were a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit.
