My mom has been trying to make me learn to knit for years. I've tried and gave up multiple times, but just a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to knit my boyfriend's parents scarves for Christmas. Rather ambitious consider I was never even able to complete a pot holder before, but once I'm determined enough I guess I can do anything I want!

I haven't finished his mother's scarf yet but I wanted to show you the one I did for his dad, I'm pretty proud of how it came out!

The basic design of the scarf was knitting grey yarn and brown yarn together in a block, the doing a grey stripe, then a brown stripe, doing another block of grey and brown, then doing a grey stripe, brown stripe, grey stripe, then doing another block of grey/brown, then a brown stripe, grey stripe, finished with a block of grey/brown. It's 25 stitches across (8 inches) and it's 46 inches long without fringe, with the fringe it's 51 inches in total length.

^Folded up so you see the length it'll be (not as long as I was hoping for, but I guess it's okay)

^close up to show what mixing the grey and brown yarn blocks look like, it kind of resembles a tweed

^close up of the fringe, I think it's a "manly" length

I'm proud of myself for finishing it, I never thought I'd be able to do a whole scarf. :) Sorry it's so picture heavy, I'm just way too excited. Oh and disregard the date stamps, my digi cam has been acting a bit wonky.
