Acrilyic on Vinyl & Tutorials on Keychains?

I found $1 vinyl CD cases at Target, and wanted to decorate them for Christmas presents. I first planned on free handing drawings with puffy t-shirt paint, but do you think acrylic paint would work to do stencils? Or would it be too...slippery?

I was also thinking of making a personalized key chain for a friend who just got a car, perhaps with a small picture on it? Has anyone ever made anything along these lines?
