This is a question for the "fuller" type of women.. or for women who just know these things, hahah! The three materials I want to use are corduroy... a really pretty silky print and a possibly jersey knit
I am sort of a beginning at wearing skirts (yah, but my first one this summer.... haha) - I really love the feeling and such! But I am not really sure which is the best for fuller girls... More flattering? I've been to http://www.torrid.com and have noticed a few different types of skirts.. I already have a tiered skirt made out of a gauzy sort of a material.... but the fabrics i want to make skirts from, won't work with that method...
(Oh, and PS - those skirts that the main fabric is slit all along the bottom and then there's a contrasting fabric underneath it.. they are so not flattering on me at all!)
i want to use a corduroy.... I was thinking an a-line for the cord (http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/3827289.html) but with a button closure.. like.. the ones that sort of "wrap" to the side a bit like a pair of pants i have... that way i could move the button if i lost more weight with ease.. instead of dealing with closures and zippers... would this kind of skirt work with corduroy?

As for the silky (erm.. polyester!) print.... i was thinking maybe a skirt down to right below my knees with a flounce???? but... the pattern i do have - there's no picture of someone wearing it - and i am not sure if it's flattering to a fuller figure....? you know? does anyone know? :-/ I think the flounce is a really cute, girly touch and seems really easy (ummm, the skirt is like.. 4 pieces!) - here is the thing though.... my tummy is my problem area... so if i were to use elastic like the pattern calls for.. i am afraid of the... wave.. it would cause, if that makes sense? do you think i could use some interfacing on the top few inches so it's a bit more stiff and won't curl as much and will hold in the problem area a little better???

As for the jersey knit.. it's just your every day jersey knit (erm.. you know.. the kind really comfy sheets are made out of... which... if this comes out well, i will be cutting up :-D)
My mom said I should try just an aline with the jersey knit.. I am already making a camisole out of it and it's coming out nicely - and well.. i certainly don't need another pair of pajama pants.. as amazing as those would be... I was thinking another skirt... which would be totally comfy... hrrmmm...... i would just double the fabric for the top few inches.... wouldnt have to use elastic or anything - as the fabric is already a bit stretchy....
Or! Does anyone else have any suggestions?!
