some nice cards
Dec. 18th, 2005 11:52 pmNOT an ipod cozy (or question) - NOT a soap question - NOT a candle question - NOT another dildo cozy - NOT a knifty knitter post - NOT a what-do-i-get-for but disguised as a "question" about a gift idea post
Let's hear it for Christmas Cards (you know, since we're not already totally sick of them *rolls eyes* I know, I know..)

It was adapted from a really super awesome (sort of geared towards the younger folks, but totally adjustable, as I did) card-making book my old roommate got me for Christmas last year... the purse was a pattern - but the handle was supposed to be out of paper and attached to the purse shape and just have a card inside of the shape... but i thought connecting it to the card so you had to pull it up to get it out - was kind of cute.. i played around with them too.. some have charms hanging from the ribbon and one of them just opens up like a card so that's a little more "traditional"
That card was for my grandmother who has been sewing for YEEAAARRSS - she made her own prom dresses and clothing in high school and her love for sewing has grown but her need to do it has gently dwindled... she is my inspiration :-) Anyway.. when i showed her my first bag, she was ECSTATIC. she loooooved it... 9 grandchildren and only one sews - hahaha... so she bag shape was perfect.. the trim hanging off the top of the card is actually miniature little fake christmas lights and hang loose from the ribbon.. and the squares are actually little scrabble pieces - it says "LOVE" :-)
For my grandfather, who is a bit more traditional... and love the mountans and the trees - I made up a dark green window card... the "tree" form is cut out and there are ribbons and wrapping paper samples sandwiches in there... kinda cool.
