plaster wall hangings

I don't know if that title is even accurate.

I have a swallow that's made out of something I think is called chalkwear.(actually i just found that out by looking this up on ebay and some of these types of wall hangings are label chalk ware) Although the pattern is very different, this is the closest thing I could come to:




My questions are as follows:

What is it actually made of?

Is it possible to make them yourself?

If it is possible how would one do it and where would you find the molds?

Could you make a mold from an exsiting piece, and if so how does one do that?
