Purse question...

I recently got this makeup bag:



and was wondering how I would go about making a wrist strap for it. It's made of PVC, and the lining is Nylon. I am hoping I can find a yellow or orange product somewere that matches similarly, and if not I wanted to buy a strand of pearls to use (good or bad idea?). Would sewing it into the lining hold, or do you think I will need to sew through the PVC also?
