New Curtains:
Jan. 18th, 2006 03:16 amMy mom got me a sewing machine for Christmas (probably because she was sick of me using hers every time I was over at her house). I just finished hanging up these curtains for my bedroom earlier this evening:

I had wanted them to be mainly red and black, but they came out a lot more pink than I had expected. They still look okay though.
Most of the fabric came from thrift stores and I wanted the curtains to have sort of an international look. There are pieces of two embroidered Mexican hacienda dresses, pieces of a beaded and embroidered Indian salwar kameez, a couple of African Kente cloth prints, and a Japanese chrysanthemum print. There is also some sequined fabric (like you'd find on a really cheesy cocktail dress or a prom dress) and an old tie-dyed shirt of mine in there.
I'm not done yet - I still have to line them so that I can use them as blackout curtains.
