dying help!
Feb. 8th, 2006 01:03 pmok here's my problem. i bought a fendi bag at a thrift store- it is unused, but was obviously a display bag. the bag is dark grey, but the front is faded from exposure to constant light. looks vaguely like this one:

but it's solid dark grey colored with a black leather + metal clasp and strap. and the fabric is very soft. you can see how bad the fade is when you lift the flap- underneath is much darker. i bought it anyway because it's in such good shape other than the color. i figured i could dye the whole thing black to even it out.
now. how do i dye it? i think soaking it will damage the strap and clasp. the craft store lady suggested fabric paint paint or marker. but i'm thinking this will make it kinda stiff?
i've never dyed anything and just don't want to ruin this bag!
any suggestions?
