Forged steel candle holder
Feb. 27th, 2006 07:23 amI need a special Tim Burton-inspired forged steel handle for a bag I designed. Instead of paying someone to make said handle, I took an intro. to blacksmithing class so I can eventually make the handle myself.
My first two projects, a leaf hook and a fire poker, turned out ok but I'm really proud of my third project-- an interesting candle holder. We all made the same three plates and candle cup, but we got to make the 'arms' however we wanted. We had no idea what the finished product would look like, just that it would all be welded together at the end of class. I decided to practice my 'Tim Burton' spirals, and it appears I need tons more practice... as well as strength. I couldn't get that super fine tip on my spirals but now I understand how to do it. I think the overall candle holder turned out really nice.
