[identity profile] lisadarling.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
this is a sour post but I felt it had to be done;
I have noticed that almost half the people in this community sell their crafts.
when you take a closer look at the items, it's not uncommon that it's copyrighted material used, from pictures, to patterns to "customized products".
I thought this was a rather safe community and that people would be creative and make their own stuff but earlier today I spotted a girl who had printed user icons from lj and put them in her marble magnets and marble pins. pictures I drew were used without my permission and there were more images I recognized from my lj friendslist. a girl from this community used our icons in order to sell her cheap marbles as her crafts.
this makes me mad as hell.

I think there should be a discussion about copyright and craftyness before things just go downhills. there's a lot of "cheating" going on and it's making things less fun.
you can't buy a cheap sweater at Ms Selfridge and just sew on a patch and sell it as your handiwork. you can't sell buttons with copyrighted images. you can't buy a make-your-own-lipbalm-set and sell the produtcs as your own homemade cosmetics. you can't knit something from a (c) pattern or a personal pattern you spotted here, and sell it as your item. the list goes on and on for ever....
