Mar. 17th, 2006 02:52 amhello - i'm a 22 year old metalworker who does some stuff with wood on the side. i have one more semester of college before i graduate with a degree in "crafts," which i think is awesome. ;) i handmake everything, except for the stones i use.
my most recent project is making fancy perfume-bottle-esque stoppers for plastic soda bottles. this one is for coke bottles:

it is sterling silver, the cap itself is functional (screws onto the bottle) and was cast from the existing cap while the fancy bit is fabricated and pierced sheet silver.

one of the first rings i ever made :p cast sterling silver, hand-carved wax (not from a blank).

another of my early rings, cast ring with fabricated false bezel to hold my puppy's epoxy-filled baby tooth. :)

one of my newer rings. sterling silver fabricated hollow forms and a lock of my girlfriend's hair. it's pretty big.

another of my newer rings, this is my pirate booty ring complete with hidden treasure storage compartment. copper, nickle silver and sterling silver. it's kinda complicated: the big skull is attached on telescoping tubes, allowing it to slide away from the body of the ring (see: pic) and swivel down, allowing the top of the ring to swivel around (see: pic) and expose the compartment. originally i wanted to put gold nuggets in there, but, i couldn't find any. :( this is my biggest ring.

my first wood carving. this is walnut, bandsawed and then hand carved into a sort of fish skeleton. the "ribs" are forged copper.

a wooden bowl that got smashed when it flew off the machine, so i sewed it back up with copper wire.
...
okay, that's probably overkill. but, anyway, hi everyone!
