a new purse
Mar. 17th, 2006 11:04 amso... after seeing the tutorial for many of the cut-out handle purses, i decided to try my hand making one for my mom...
HUGE pics this way...

the inside

i put in a patch pocket and a smaller one sized to fit my mom's cell phone
mom and i found the fabric at joann's this weekend. it is so adorable. it took less than half a yard to make the purse, but i have a feeling the 1 1/2 yards of the fabric we bought will go faster than i thought!
the hardest part is turning out the handles, which is kinda the same as making an interior zippered pocket (nothing new to me). it just takes a lot of ironing to get it right. i also added some pieces of wooden dowels in the handles so they don't get all floppy.
hope you like em! i'd love to hear what everyone thinks!
