paper pads

I want to make pads of paper. By looking at the pads that I have, I think all you have to do is stack up the paper and then put a strip of tape on the edge to hold it all together. My question is what kind of tape? I'm talking about the pads of paper that are "binded" at the top and the pages can easily rip out. That's a horrible explanation, but I hope you can understand what I mean.
