dying tshirts.

hello. im being a craftgrrl posting whore tonight. actually not too bad, just twice, but i have thought of a million questions, so it seems like more! ANYWAYS!
i checked the mems/FAQS and cant find this sort of question:
i have never dyed anything before, but i have this baseball tshirt that has green sleeves and a white body. but the white is see-thru and yucky and id much rather it be hot pink, cause green and hot pink are yummy! soooo my question is... can i do that? throw it all in hot pink dye and have it not effect the green??? or would i have to do some special hand dying sorta thing?
other then that i made tshirt tonight, well i didnt make it, i changed it from white to red heart with writing using fabric paint. i'll post some pics tomorrow though cause its still wet and im not sure if it even worked!!!
