crochet question!

craftgrrlMe again, sorry. I've looked this up in several books and searched the memories, but nothing.
I'm pretty new to crochet and I'm making a scarf. Chains and single crochets going well, but I don't get how to do this:
work 1 sc tbl in the t-ch.
It's supposed to be done after having worked sc to the end of a row, but before ch 1 and turn. I understand the abbreviations and all, but through which back loop?? Help please, because I've been starting over again & again.
