There's something happening this week but it's for the church an stuff and religion really aint my thing, I am an atheist so I'd stick out like a sore thumb ghoing to church retreats.

to bad too cause the crafts are right up my alley. Are there any craft retreats and stuff not based through the church or some religious weekend?

Children’s Play Maps – Return to the days of your childhood by spending time helping us to color. We have hundreds of large floor maps that display a make-believe town with schools, parks, stores, roads, etc that will delight the imagination of a child....but they need some color! So come grab a crayon and bring these maps to life!

Children’s Christmas Stockings – This year a new service project joins our list. Several agencies have asked us to prepare felt Christmas stockings to give to children, teens, and the elderly who are away from home during the holidays. We will hand-sew the edges on each stocking and then attach fun, decorative embellishments. These stockings will make a delightful gift of cheer during the Christmas season.

Service Projects:

ABC Educational Books (coloring) – Spend a few moments coloring these cute ABC pages that will be distributed throughout the world by the Church Humanitarian Center. These fun and education booklets give teachers in other countries a tool to aid them in their efforts to empower the children through education.

Infant Fleece Blankets (stitching) – Blanket-stitch an edge on the sweetest infant fleece blankets you'll ever see! The stitch is easy to learn and beginners are welcome. These blankets will lovingly wrap tiny babies born to teens or underprivileged moms. In such a simple way we can bless and encourage our sisters in need.

Pocket Hearts (stuffing & stitching) – Join us as we hand-stitch and stuff our small colorful fleece hearts. Gold is for those with a heart of gold, red for love, purple to remember our veterans, and pink for a cherished friend with cancer. These tokens of tenderness, that take minutes to make, are distributed by local hospitals to the young and old. Clutching this small keepsake seems to bring a ray of hope into an anxious heart. Don’t let this tender project go without your touch.

Procedure Dolls (stuffing & stitching) – We are stuffing hand-made dolls that will be used by pediatric hospitals to demonstrate medical procedures to children. These simple dolls have a soothing effect on a child’s anxiety about an upcoming surgery. Come make a doll and find a wonderful way to reach out to a child in need.

Fleece Blankets (cutting) On Friday only – Come Friday morning and listen to Women’s Conference while we knot the edges of fleece blankets. This is an easy project that can let your mind concentrate on the session while serving someone else. The warmth of fleece makes this a definite “feel good” project to work on.

EFY Fleece Cutting – In an effort to assist the Especially for Youth (EFY) program at BYU, we have a room stacked with 25,000 yards of fleece! We invite you to help us cut this fleece into blanket size lengths so EFY programs all over the United States can spend time serving others. The kids will fringe and knot these blankets and then donate them to agencies in their local areas. Come join the fun!
