[identity profile] sarahnade.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Okay, finally getting around to posting all the stuff I've made. I don't believe I've posted these before, but if I have, I apologize for the repeat. :) DIALUP BEWARE!! Craploads of photos below. :)

First up, some little/oft repeated things:

A duct tape rose I made for my friend who was visiting me:

A kanzashi (sp?) flower that I made. I am going to make a bunch more of these in bright colors, and then create a shadow box for my niece (she is only about 6 mos old at the moment, so I have a while.)

back side:

A diaper cake I put together for my SIL's baby shower.

I rolled up all the diapers and interspersed them with baby blankets. Then I tied them up with ribbon (double-stick tape is awesome!!)

The top layer was actually a bucket I bought at walmart. I stuck in a little pair of overalls with embroidered flowers on them, and a thing of diaper creme. Then I draped some pink tulle and tiny pearl garland around it.

Here is a close up of the layers, you can see the fake flowers I stuck in as well. The hardest part was making it easily assemble-able, as I had to SHIP THE THING 3,000 MILES. Heh. That's why I wrapped each layer in ribbon, that made it easier to keep the layers separate. Anyway, the new mom and dad loved it.

A fleece-tie blanket I made for my new niece (can you tell how spoiled she is yet?? heh) for Christmas. I loved this cute fleece pattern!

The back side: pink fleece, with little embossed flowers on it. TOTALLY CUTE.

And now, for something I just made today:

So, last week was the city-wide yardsale. Since there are a lot of renters in the town, and not a lot of yards, the city allows some folks to congregate in the big park for one GIANT multi-family yard sale. Can't beat that!!! So I found these 3 Japanese placemats, and I bargained down the lady to $2 for all 3!

The front has an absolutely beautiful multi-colored, shimmery design on it. The back was a beautiful solid red. I believe it's cotton, pretty well starched. :)

Some closer looks at the placemats.

I thought, What could I do with those? And then-- BING! Lightbulb!
So I cut and sewed and glued a little, and came up with this:

It's a little pouch. But it has a specific purpose, just wait.

The back side.

It needed a handle.

Oooooohhhh, what's inside?! Are you excited yet?

It's my Sirius radio unit! I needed a place to hold it while it wasn't being used, and so it wasn't in plain sight in my car for everyone to see. The bag needed a handle because it's easier to get it out of it's hiding spot that way. (Yeah, the sewing on the handle's not so great. I guess I could have used fabric glue, but I like doing things the hard way. ;)

Here he is, peeking out from his home.

Empty pouch. What do you think?

I think I am going to use the other 2 placemats for other projects. Possibly another DS cozy, because the one I made out of fleece didn't turn out that great. Perhaps a wallet from the last remaining placemat. They were such a super find!

Thanks for looking!
