May. 29th, 2006 09:09 pmI had asked about wiring speakers under clothing for a dance performance at my university. Thanks for your responses! Here is the result of our dance digital arts collaboration...
Now you see it

Now you don't!

(I am the one on the right in red knit booties... my grandma made those for me! :D)
Pictures taken by Pete Moss http://petemoss.org/, the sound and wiring guy on the collaboration. Basically, he's the brain behind this. I wasn't the crafter, but the dancer who helped.
More details on what the performance was like...
Pete wrote to Microsoft to get ipod shuffles for the collaboration (I think the school ended up getting them for free! Sweet..) Pete created the music, which was sounds of breathing, poetry read in Korean, and other sounds mixed in together. The sound came from out torsos (due to our costumes, this was the best place). It was cool because you could hear the sounds change as we moved about the space.
There was also a screen with projected designs by another digital arts PhD candidate.
I'm in the process of getting this performance onto DVD, so I hope to be able to make the link/file available to anyone interested!
Thanks for your help, y'all!
