Jun. 4th, 2006 06:11 pmdidn't see much of anything about rocks in the memories (other than tumbling, that part i already know how to do) so.... does anyone here work with rocks to make jewelry? my boyfriend loves collected and tumbling rocks, and i love making jewelry, and it just recently occured to us that we could combine those into a pretty sweet little business. we've got tons of polished stones to work with--some large and interesting enough to stick a finding on and string on a necklaces, but i would love to try and break some of them up into smaller pieces and do more elaborate work with them. so i have several questions...
1. once i break the rocks up, will it be possible to drill holes in them, to string them on to something?
2. how do i do the drilling?
3. where do you all get your findings for stones? i've never seen anything like this as the craft stores (michael's).
4. any other advice for a beginning working with rocks?
