craftgrrl | Making holes in brass charms

I checked the memories but could only find a how-to on making holes in plastic dice. I recently bought some brass charms but discovered they didn't come with any holes to hook to ear wires.

Could anyone suggest a way to make a hole in the charms. They're made out of brass, and a li'l delicate - so ideally I wouldn't want to drill them (unless the drill tool won't damage them - i've never tried drilling so am not sure how this works). If I should use a dremel tool, which one should I get?

Would a hot needle work on brass with adequate pressure/time?
