craftgrrl | cross stitch color combinations?

I read through the memories. I checked all the links there. But everything I find is dead, old, no longer there.

I've had an idea in my head for a collection of small projects, but I'm not sure how/where to get it started. I want to cross stitch phrases/sayings for myself and a few friends. I have in my head what I want it to look like. Something small (maybe 4X6"), with simple lettering and maybe a small design or two in the empty space. But all the alphabet stitch books I find aren't what I'm really looking for. Plus, I'm horrible at figuring out color combinations on my own.

Does anyone have any ideas of places or websites I can look for something different than what I've been finding in the stores (I've been in the standard Michaels, Joanns, AC Moore, I'm forgetting the other two or three places I've been)? I'm sure I can find an alphabet pattern that I can deal with, but its really the color combinations that I need help with. Help?
