More bag stuff.
Jul. 9th, 2006 10:51 amNot only do I have a bag & purse addiction, I seem to have this kookey skirt reconstructed to purse addiction. I've started it and I can't stop it! (There's a lame "Oops, I did it again and again and again again" joke in here somewhere.)
My requisites:
-Skirt has to be cute, preferably with flowers, because, well, flowers are friendly, you see.
-Has to be cheap, typically thrifted or ebay'd.
-Has to not fit me. Which is never a problem. Ahem.
So here we go again, this time I found 2 of the same, in different (small girlie) sizes:

I like that they're the same, yet, different.
And here I've actually been productive for the upcoming craft fair. Yay me.
To learn how to make these, I took this and that tutorials. Just kinda merged them together. Heart appliques are hand done with craft felt and dmc embroidery thread. Hearts on both sides! As it should be!

As you can see, I'm a big fan of putting prints together that you might not normally think would be a good idea.
This one is a modified messenger, I tweaked this tutorial here.

I bought these pretty vintage glass buttons at a community flea market. The lady that was selling them had so much awesome vintage buttons and fabrics and stuff. Some a little expensive, but still drool worthy. Love flea markets!

An easy way to round corners in an even fashion is to use a cereal bowl to trace.

I found a lovely online supplier of wood and bamboo handles.

And there you have it, another batch of goodness from the crazy bag lady.
I can say that bag making is fun and happy and you should totally try it! Purses and the like weren't even my thing before I started, now, well, yeah, can't stop.
Cheers!
