Coconut Oil?
Jul. 11th, 2006 11:19 pmI'm going to make soap. I have the general gist of what I'm going to do/use and all that fun stuff. However, the "recipe" that I'm going to use (and most of them that I've seen) call for coconut oil.
Almost everything that I need I can easily buy at the grocery store, but I don't think I've ever seen coconut oil at the grocery store. Is it there? Where can I find it?
Another question that's been on my mind (for those of you who might happen to make soap):
I'm planning on making lye-based soap. I'm not so worried about the lye as I'm sure that I can take the proper safety precautions and what-not, but I was wondering if for mixing and cooking (as far as measuring glasses, pots, mixing bowls) if it's safe to use bowls and pots that I'll be using again for food? Obviously, I don't want to poison myself or anything.
Thanks!
