Dying shoes...I have never done this before.

My daughter is getting married in August and the shoes that she's wearing with her gown need to be dyed. They are white lace flats that are all man made materials and her gown is a Champaign color with multi-colored hand embroidery along the bottom hem. We just want the shoes to not look so bright white.

I went through the FAQ's found some good info on dying with tea or coffee, which was what I was thinking on doing. Has anyone here ever dyed shoes at home? If so, do you have any good tips?
