crocheted water bottle bag
Aug. 5th, 2006 10:13 amI finally got a digital camera! Now I can show you what I like to make.
I made this water bottle bag for those times when I don't want to carry my Nalgene bottle in my hands or in a backpack. I used cotton that was recycled from a commercial knit sweater!

sc = single crochet (American style)
dc = double crochet (American style)
ch = chain
1. Crochet a round in sc, increasing until you have a disc the size of the bottom of your bottle.
2. sc without increasing, so you make the bottom of a cylinder.
3. dc for interest, then another sc round or so...
4. for the lacy bit, do *3dc, 3ch* for a while, hooking the dc's around the previous row's ch's; don't bother to put the hook through the ch's, just go around. If it doesn't come out even, fudge it so that you can keep doing rows of this for as long as you like. Or if you want a smaller lace do *2dc, 2ch*.
5. Stop a bit short of the top; it will stretch! (I didn't and now it's too big)
6. End with a couple rows of sc so you can easily find the opening.
7. For the strap, *4sc, 1ch, turn the work*
