I am very much in love with this bag by Marc Jacobs, but I don't have $1200 to spend on a bag and besides, I already bought a knockoff from Aldo (which is getting pretty roughed up, so imagine that on a $1200 bag :|). So I decided, hey, what the heck, let's try and recreate it.

So about a yard of cotton broadcloth, fusable fleece, lining, zippers, and many pin-pricked fingers later, I present you with this:

As you can see here, I got lazy and instead of handsewing the part that attached the purse to the hardware, I used the sewing machine. I'm going to pretend that I don't see it and you guys will do the same ;) I plan on handsewing it some other time. How the purse works is that there are channels at the top of the purse, and you insert those two [ rods through them, then attach them to the bear trap-looking thing, and thus you have a purse. It's not a direct copy of the Stam, yet I am planning on buying a gold chain to use as a strap.

This was a first for many things for me: a purse, quilting, and zipper pockets. To be honest, I'm not sure when I'll do my next, since I think I did a lot more seam-ripping than actual sewing for this one.

Oh, and this is the frame:

And cost of project? I'd say around $20 CDN. The frame, pattern, and instructions were from Value Village at $3 (I think, could've been less).
